Purpose Statement The purpose of the Southeastern Golf Club Association is to provide and organize a connection to intercollegiate competitions for colleges and universities located in the Eastern United States and will be the national governing association of the North and the South Conferences.
Mission Statement The mission of the Southeastern Golf Club Association is to create a competitive environment which allows individuals who are committed to the tradition, history, and lore of the game an opportunity interact and compete in a national setting. History The Southeastern Golf Club Association was founded in the fall of 2003. Travis Sheets, the Virginia Tech Golf Club President, began researching the interest for such an association by circulating e-mails in the spring of 2003. After it was decided that there was sufficient interest to create and sustain an association that would provide and organize golf competitions among universities and colleges throughout the Eastern United States, Travis Sheets sent a preliminary schedule to the participating schools and set a meeting to take place the morning before the first tournament at Royal New Kent in Richmond, Virginia. There on Sept 27, 2003 the idea was presented to the other 5 presidents present at the tournament. The idea was submitted, organized, and voted upon before the tournament was played. The association was officially created and the tournament that day was the first sanctioned by the association.
