Article I. Name

Section 1.01 The name of this organization shall be called The Southeastern Golf Club Association.

 

Article II. Purpose and Mission

Section 2.01 The game of golf is to be promoted as an international sport with no boundaries of age, race, or religion and it should be understood that the interest in this sport spans more than just the college level because it is a lifetime sport. The Southeastern Golf Club Association intends to carry out any procedures of this organization with unfathomable integrity and camaraderie that will always represent the game of golf with high standards and honor it deserves.

Section 2.02 The purpose of the Southeastern Golf Club Association is to provide and organize a connection to intercollegiate competitions for colleges and universities located in the Eastern United States and will be the national governing association of the North and the South Conferences.

Section 2.03 The mission of the Southeastern Golf Club Association is to create a competitive environment which allows individuals who are committed the tradition, history, and lore of the game an opportunity interact and compete in a national setting.

 

Article III. Membership

Section 3.01 Membership shall be open to any college or university in the Eastern United States.

Section 3.02 In the event that logistic complications occur, the Southeastern Golf Club Association reserves all rights to limit or expand membership as necessary.

 

Article IV. Officers

Section 4.01 The officers of this organization shall be as follows: President, Treasurer, Secretary, Public Relations & Moral , Coordination Director, and Webmaster. The six positions make up the Cabinet, which upon unanimous vote may create other positions within the club. Only current members of the Southeastern Golf Club Association may hold positions in the Cabinet. If at anytime a tie shall occur the President will be responsible for breaking the tie.

Duties of the Officers:

(a) Section 1: General Orders
This section applies to all officers of the club. Holding a position as an officer is a distinguished position and should be held in high regard. All officers will be expected to show the utmost professionalism, sportsmanship and integrity. It is the duty of the officer to set the example for all other members to follow.

(b) Section 2: The President
The President is responsible for organizing meetings, monitoring progress of each event or activity, and seeing that each officer fulfills their duty. The President should also work creatively to develop ideas and programs to foster opportunities of competition for members of the Association.

(c) Section 3: Treasurer
The Treasurer will maintain and monitor the organization's checking account and collect and deposit all sponsorship funds. All bills and expenses incurred by the Southeastern Golf Club Association are to be paid by the Treasurer. The Treasurer also prepares ongoing financial summaries to be presented at meetings.

(d) Section 4: Secretary
The Secretary is responsible for taking minutes at the meetings and for making them available to the entire association, for organizing and recording the statistics, and for keeping a history of the association. The Secretary should forward any pertinent information to the Web Master so proper action can be taken to up date the website.

(e) Section 5: Public Relations and Moral
The Pubic Relations and Moral Officer is responsible for drawing public attention and creating recognition for the Southeastern Golf Club Association. Public Relations is the project manager for any advertisement, recruiting and recognition projects.

(f) Section 6: Coordination Director
The Coordination Director is responsible for making any and all arrangements to coordinate future tournaments and schedules and to see that they are organized in accordance with the regulations set forth by Southeastern Golf Club Association.

(g) Section 7: Webmaster
The Web master is responsible for maintaining the club's web site, and keeping it up to date.

 

Article V. Elections and Appointments

Section 5.01 Elections of the officers of the cabinet shall be made at the last scheduled spring meeting.

Section 5.02 Candidates must be nominated for a position.

Section 5.03 A majority vote from all members present at the meeting is needed to elect an official.

Section 5.04 If a position becomes vacant during the year, a meeting and an election will be held to fill that position.

 

Article VI. Meetings

Section 6.01 Meetings will be held at the President's discretion.

Section 6.02 All officers must be present at each meeting, unless a valid excuse, decided at the discretion of the President, is given to the President of the club.

 

Article VII. Dues

Section 7.01 Dues are to be paid directly to treasury.

Section 7.02 The amount of dues will be decided on by the Cabinet.

 

Article VIII. Tournaments

Section 8.01 Tournaments will be held three times a semester.

(a) Each conference will host a tournament both fall and spring semester.

(b) The SEGCA Invitational, which will host all schools, will be held once a semester. The Southern Conference will host the tournament in the fall and the Northern Conference will host in the spring.

Section 8.02 No school can hold more than one tournament a year.

Section 8.03 When a school is scheduled to host a tournament, the club president needs to contact the SEGCA Coordination Director to verify the time, date, and course of where the tournament will be held.

Section 8.04 Tournaments will consist of one, eighteen hole round of golf.

Section 8.05 The type of play will always be stroke play in accordance with USGA rules. The type of competition will be individually organized between schools e.g., match play or best ball.

Section 8.06 Each team is allowed to bring up to 10 players, but only the top 7 scores will count.

Section 8.07 When play is finished each player's scorecard is to be signed, dated and attested and then turned in to the secretary to be recorded. Failure to do so can result in disqualification.

 

Article IX. Awards

Section 9.01 Tournament Awards

(a) Team Awards

(i) The Team Score will be calculated by adding together the top 7 scores.

(ii) Team awards will be given to the three teams with the lowest score.

(b) Individual Awards

(i) Any ties for Individual scores will be broken by going backwards on the score card, this is not taken into consideration when points are being awarded.

(ii) Individual Awards will be given to the three individuals with the lowest score.

Section 9.02 Yearly Awards

(a) Team Awards

(i) Points will be awarded to each team as follows for every tournament: 1st place – 10 pts, 2nd place – 8 pts, 3rd place – 6 points, 4th place – 5 pts, 5th place – 4 points, 6th place – 3 pts, 7th place – 2 pts, 8th place - 1 pt.

(ii) At the end of the year the points are to be totaled and the team with the most amount of points will earn Southeastern Golf Club Association Team Cup and be considered Team of the Year.

(b) Individual Awards

(i) Points will be awarded to each individual as follows for every tournament. When points are awarded ties are not to be considered. i.e. if 5 members tie for 1st place then each of the 5 members each 10 pts.: 1st place – 10 pts, 2nd place – 8 pts, 3rd place – 6 pts.

(ii) At the end of the year the points are to be totaled and the individual with the most amount of points will earn Southeastern Golf Club Association Individual Cup and be considered Player of the Year.

Section 9.03 Closest to Pin and Long Drive awards are highly encouraged but not required at tournaments.

 

Article X. Amendments

Section 10.01 Amendments to this constitution may be submitted in writing to the President by any member of the association. That amendment is to be read out loud to the cabinet and questions and comments are to follow.

Section 10.02 After questions and comments are made about the amendment voting will take place. A unanimous vote of the Cabinet is required in order for an amendment to this constitution to pass.

Section 10.03 Ratification

(a) This constitution shall become effective upon ratification by a unanimous vote of the members of this meeting on _______________.
